Choosing the right frame for a painting or portrait is a delicate task combining both the attention paid to the portrait (painting) and the surrounding environment where it will be placed, as well as the type of attachment such as hanging on the wall or placing it on a stand.
If you want an oil portrait the high-profiled and comparatively wide frames complimented with suitable picture mount are the most appropriate. The oil painting does not require to be framed with protective glass.
In case your choice is a portrait made with pastels (full colored or black & white pastel), you can choose between almost all types of framing, combining them with suitable picture mounts. However, it is necessary to place the pastel portrait under glass protection. There are several options here too and the best of them is the anti-reflection glass.
In case your choice is a portrait made with pencil, then the requirements are the same as those applied to the frame of the pastel paintings. Again glass is a compulsory element of the framing.
