Photos
In order to have your portrait made you have to send me a photo or several photos, if possible, of the subject to be painted (those who will be on the portrait - you or your close people or your pets). If you would like to order a group portrait of several people (two, three or more) it is not necessary to have a group photo of them. The portrait can be painted according to several separate photos and the faces will be added and arranged in line with the general composition.
You have a few options to send the photos:

  • By filling in the form: form
  • By sending a e-mail to: artpencheva@yahoo.com
  • By snail mail. Please, refer to the attached address in the link Contact;

The photos sent by snail mail can be either on paper or on CD. After the order is performed you will be given back the photos together with the portrait.
There are no specific requirements regarding the photos, however, their good quality is preferable.
Should you need any additional advice or have any inquiries with respect to the photos, please contact me at the following e-mail: artpencheva@yahoo.com  Please, feel free to ask me for advice while choosing the appropriate photos, as well as for any matter arising form that. It will be my pleasure to answer.

Photos/Your Photos

In case you are not sure what kind of photos are suitable for portrait painting here is some advice how to select your photos or what is the best way to take a photo of the subject – a person or your pet - whose portrait is to be painted.
In most cases people prefer the standard portrait pose as it adds a feeling of refinement and elegance. If this is what you would like, read carefully the following advice.

In order to make a single portrait look in a more classical way or in general to represent the subject in a prettier way, you’d better take the photo of the person in three quarters face, which means that you should take the photo slightly from the side. For example with one shoulder more in sight than the other and the head turns to the side of the camera. Usually the full-face pose (face to the camera in such a way that both shoulders are equally in sight) is not recommendable, as in this way the figure of the object is not eye-catching. As a rule the shoulders look broader and rougher. The use of such a pose usually results in the loss of the idea of lightness and gracefulness of the body.

Dynamic portraits
If your preference is that the portrait should highlight the model's unique features such as hot temper, liveliness, cheerfulness or playfulness, almost all types of photos are applicable. Such portraits are often chosen for depicting people with great sense of humor, children and pets.

Pet photos
In order to obtain the best possible portrait of your pet you should stand at his eye-level and take the photo from this plane. Try different poses and photos. You can also send me several different photos and then we can select together the most appropriate one to serve as a base of the portrait of your pet.
